Abdul Karim apologizes to fans after Hearts of Oak stumble in league opener
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Karim has taken responsibility and apologized to fans after the Phobians were held to a frustrating goalless draw by newly promoted Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season began with high expectations for Hearts, who had impressed in pre-season under head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. Many anticipated a bright start against a side making their debut in the top flight.
Karim controlled the midfield with confidence, and forward Frank Abora Duku provided spark in attack. But despite dominating possession, Hearts could not break down Hohoe United’s defensive wall.
“We apologize to our supporters for not being able to win. We really wanted to win but it didn’t happen. Our opponents sat back too much so it made difficult but we will work hard to get the goals in our subsequent matches," Abdul Karim told TV3 after the game.
Hearts will now turn their focus to Dreams FC on September 20.
