Sundowns to face FAR Rabat in CAF Champions League final set for May showdown

Mamelodi Sundowns will face FAR Rabat in the CAF Champions League final after both sides progressed from their respective semi-finals.

Sundowns booked their place for a second successive season following a 1-0 win over Espérance Sportive de Tunis in Pretoria, sealing a 2-0 aggregate triumph. Brayan León’s decisive first-half goal capped a controlled performance, as the South African side continued their strong run in the competition.

FAR Rabat, meanwhile, reached the final for the first time in their history after overcoming RS Berkane 2-1 on aggregate. Despite a 1-0 defeat in the second leg, their first-leg advantage proved enough as they held firm under pressure to advance.

The final will be played over two legs, with the first leg scheduled for May 15, 2026, in South Africa and the return leg set for May 24, 2026, in Morocco. Sundowns will host the opening encounter, while FAR Rabat will stage the decisive second leg.

The tie sets up a contrast in styles and experience. Sundowns are chasing a second continental title, having last won the competition in 2016, while FAR Rabat are seeking to crown a historic campaign with their first Champions League triumph.
