2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship: Prosper Narteh Ogum confident Black Starlets will deliver at tournament

Black Starlets head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has assured that his side will make Ghanaians proud ahead of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship. 

The team on Sunday wrapped up their preparations in Accra ahead of the tournament, which gets underway on September 20 in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, the former Asante Kotoko head trainer praised the level of preparation ahead of the tournament and assured that they will not disappoint the country.

“We have had a very productive camp, and the players have shown great commitment," he told the Ghana FA website.

"We are going to Côte d’Ivoire, determined to compete and make Ghanaians proud,” he added.

Drawn in Group A, Ghana will open their campaign against Togo on Saturday, September 20, at 18:00 GMT before taking on the host country on Tuesday, September 23, at 18:00 GMT.

The Black Starlets will wrap up their group phase games against Niger on Friday, September 26, with kick-off scheduled at 15:00 GMT.

Ghana's group games will be played at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

The tournament serves as the official qualifying event for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the top sides from the zone expected to book their tickets to the continental championship.

The Starlets, two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, will be aiming to reclaim their dominance at the youth level by securing qualification and making a strong statement on the continental stage.
