Hearts of Oak: Didi Dramani aims to build strong culture within goalkeeping department
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has revealed that his recent decision to rotate goalkeepers is part of a deliberate strategy to build a "very strong culture" of internal competition within the club.
The move saw second-choice goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi start in place of the established Benjamin Asare for their recent Ghana Premier League match against Bechem United.
Agbasi rewarded the coach's faith with a decisive clean-sheet performance, making several key saves to secure a vital win.
Explaining his philosophy after the game, Dramani stated the rotation was designed to manage player workload and provide crucial match minutes. "The reason is just to deload and then also to give Solomon game minutes," the coach said.
He elaborated that such decisions are essential for long-term squad health and performance, adding, "There's a need for you to deload Benjamin after three, four games; then you deload him so that you can build a very strong culture within our [department]."
The victory boosted Hearts of Oak to 36 points, moving them up the table and above rivals Asante Kotoko.
For Dramani, the successful rotation not only secured points but also served as a practical demonstration of his commitment to developing depth and a competitive mindset, ensuring no player becomes complacent and the entire goalkeeping unit remains sharp and motivated.
