GFA secures exclusive FIFA commercial boost for women’s football
· GhanaSoccernetThe Ghana Football Association has earned global recognition after securing a coveted place in FIFA’s Women’s Commercial Strategy Programme, becoming the only African federation selected for the initiative.
Ghana is among just 12 Member Associations worldwide chosen for the 2026 FIFA Women’s Football Commercial Programme, underlining the country’s growing credibility in developing the women’s game.
The selection follows a rigorous evaluation process based on governance standards, league organisation, long-term planning and commercial growth prospects.
The inclusion is expected to significantly accelerate efforts to transform the domestic women’s game into a viable commercial product.
With tailored support from FIFA, the GFA will receive strategic guidance aimed at strengthening the Ghana Women’s Premier League and elevating its commercial profile.
Key components of the programme include technical assistance to improve how clubs package and market their brands, alongside specialised training for both GFA officials and club representatives in sponsorship acquisition and commercial development.
Clubs will also undergo rebranding processes designed to enhance visibility and attract corporate investment.
The initiative represents a critical step towards building a financially sustainable ecosystem for women’s football in Ghana.
