Bashir Hayford delighted as Heart of Lions crush Basake Holy Stars 3-0

Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford expressed his delight after guiding his team to a resounding 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League on Friday afternoon.

Speaking after the game, the experienced tactician revealed that his players were determined to make a statement after their previous encounter against the same opponents.

"This is exactly what we wanted. We know how we suffered in their hands when we went there the last time. We were determined that when they come here, we have to pay them back. We wanted to prove to them that we are the better side, and that is exactly what we did," Hayford said.

After last weekend’s defeat to Bibiani GoldStars, Lions responded emphatically, dominating from start to finish to preserve their perfect home record this season.

Kwadwo Obeng Junior opened the scoring in the 36th minute after Michael Ephson’s strike hit the post. Ephson doubled the lead just before halftime with a composed finish. Substitute Anthony Owusu then sealed the victory with a stunning long-range effort in the second half.

The result temporarily sends Heart of Lions top of the Ghana Premier League table.
