Nations FC captain Razak Simpson has expressed the squad’s collective hunger to compete on the continental stage after the club secured a historic berth in the MTN FA Cup final.

The Abrankese-based side edged out Aduana FC with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday, courtesy of an eighth-minute strike by Emmanuel Annor.

Simpson, who delivered a commanding performance to earn the Man of the Match award, revealed that representing Ghana in a CAF competition is the ultimate motivation for the team this season.

While the captain has yet to feature in African inter-club football, he noted that the dressing room is filled with inspiration from veteran teammates who have already tasted continental action.

“That [playing in Africa] is our dream,” Simpson told Joy Sports after the game. “I’ve never played in Africa before, but we have players who have, our goalkeeper Sanon and also Sulley.

“They’ve been telling us how good Africa is and how everything is there. So it is also our dream this season to go there.”

The victory marks a milestone for Nations FC, as they stand just one match away from qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

They will face the winner of the semi-final clash between Dreams FC and Medeama SC.
