Anthony Baffoe celebrates Black Queens players and technical team for winning bronze medal at WAFCON 2024
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Black Stars player Anthony Baffoe has applauded the Black Queens and their technical team for coming third at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Queens faced off with the Banyana Banyana of South Africa on Friday night to battle for third place at this year’s tournament hosted in Morocco.
In the encounter against the defending champions, the Black Queens came from behind to draw 1-1 with the opponent in regulation time, forcing the contest to be decided through a penalty shootout.
Despite failing to convert their first spot-kick, the Black Queens managed to secure a 4-3 win to earn the bronze medal.
Reacting to the victory, Anthony Baffoe has stressed that he is proud of the achievement of the Queens, the technical team, and the management as well.
“Kudos to the gallant Queens! You delivered a remarkable tournament. Heartfelt congratulations to the players, the technical team, and the management on earning the bronze medal. We are so proud of you all,” the former Black Stars player said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, the final of the WAFCON 2024 will be played on Saturday, July 26, between Nigeria and Morocco.
