Asante Kotoko team still without telepathy – Coach Karim Zito
· GhanaSoccernetAsante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has admitted that his side is yet to develop the needed understanding on the pitch despite opening their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign with victory.
Kotoko began the season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea in Berekum, but Zito insists the team’s chemistry remains a work in progress.
Albert Amoah’s fine strike, assisted by new signing Hubert Gyau, settled the tight contest and secured all three points for the Porcupine Warriors.
While expressing delight at the win, Zito noted that the squad’s cohesion has been hampered by the arrival of 15 new players during the off-season.
“I’m very happy we had a nice start here [in Berekum]; we will use that to motivate ourselves against Kwara [United]…we are still working, we are not yet there,” the Kotoko boss said after the match.
He continued: “We just started the league…we have about 15 players so the gelling [of the team] is a problem but definitely, this is no excuse.”
Kotoko will look to build on their winning start when they host Nigeria’s Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup first-leg tie on Sunday, September 21 at 15:00 GMT.
