Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani worried about team’s inconsistencies

Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani has voiced concern over his team’s lack of consistency following a frustrating 0-0 draw against Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.

Hearts entered the match seeking a win that would have closed the gap on league leaders Medeama S.C. to two points.

The draw leaves the Phobians third on the league table with 40 points, five adrift of Medeama, highlighting Dramani’s call for steadier performances if they are to challenge for the title.

"I'm worried because the character theme for this week was staying humble and then keeping consistency," Dramani said after the match.

"From Monday, that is what I've been echoing into the ears of the players, to stay humble and then keep consistency. Consistency in anything that you're doing, including our winning sprints, because I could feel that we need consistency, because we need to win, win."

They dominated early, with Martin Karikari’s edge-of-the-box strike saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Eric Ofori-Antwi in the fourth minute.

Mawuli Wayo and Baba Adamu both went close in the first half, including a near-goal cleared off the line by Seidu Mohammed, but Chelsea’s defense and Ofori-Antwi’s heroics kept the score level.

The second half saw Chelsea begin stronger, yet Hearts continued creating opportunities. Wayo missed an open goal from close range, and protests for a penalty after being held in the box went unheeded by referee Jacob Aduntera. Despite pouring forward, Hearts failed to convert, allowing Chelsea to secure a hard-earned point.
