Kurt Okraku’s style of leadership has changed - Sammy Anim Addo

Former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Samuel Anim Addo has raised concerns about Kurt Okraku’s leadership style amid recent struggles in Ghana football at large.

His remarks stem from the recent appointment made by the domestic football governing body. The Ghana FA on Tuesday effected major changes to the Black Stars technical team in a bid to revamp the national side ahead of upcoming tournaments.

But Anim Addo feels the Ghana FA has taken a hasty decision to revamp the technical team of the Black Stars.

“Why the rush? He quizzed while expressing his displeasure about the recent appointment.

"They should have involved the Sports Minister in this. Our next game is in March. The coach is in touch with the players already so why do you rush to make this appointment before the minister assumes office?

" Kurt Okraku’s style of leadership has changed" he said in an audio aired on Kessben FM. "We failed to progress from our group in the last two AFCON tournaments. Now, it has gotten to a point, where the Black Stars are missing the AFCON tournament for the first time in over 20 years. Can’t we see that there is something wrong,” he quizzed.

“Nyantakyi recently made it clear that it is about leadership and management. So are we changing the management strategy?" he asked.

Experienced German manager Winfried Anton Schaffer, who guided Cameroon to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations title joins as the technical advisor to the Black Stars team and is expected to work closely with Otto Addo.

Desmond Offei, the current head coach of Ghana's U20 team, joins the Black Stars' technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.

He will work alongside assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who have retained their roles under head coach Otto Addo.

In addition, Kris Perquy, a seasoned sports psychologist with 17 years of experience, has been appointed to enhance the team's mental preparedness.

The technical setup also includes Belgian video analyst Gregory De Grauwe, who brings extensive expertise from his time with clubs such as Sporting Lokeren and K. Beerschot VA.
