GPL: Medeama boss Ibrahim Tanko rues missed chances in Samartex draw
· GhanaSoccernetMedeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko expressed frustration over his side’s wastefulness in front of goal after they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Samartex in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
The result, played out at the TNA Park, was enough to keep the Mauve and Yellows at the top of the table but left their manager demanding more precision in attack.
The hosts took a shock lead when Dramani Awuah produced a stunning strike from near the halfway line to put Samartex ahead.
However, Medeama salvaged a point late in the game through Kingsley Braye, who reacted quickest to fire home a rebound after sustained pressure in the closing minutes.
Tanko admitted his side’s sluggish start and missed opportunities proved costly.
“The first half was not good from us,” he said after the game.
“In the second half, we were better and had chances to score, but couldn’t. I hope we’ll learn from this. The league is long, and you’ll meet these kinds of games, but you have to keep going.”
Medeama will next host Swedru All Blacks in Tarkwa, while Samartex return home to face Hohoe United in Matchday 7.
