Kwadwo Obeng Junior devastated after Gold Stars end Heart of Lions’ unbeaten run

Heart of Lions forward Kwadwo Obeng Junior was left devastated on Monday afternoon after the team’s defeat to Gold Stars in Week 6 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The attacker was in action for the Kpando-based outfit on the matchday as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Gold Stars at Duns Park.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Kwadwo Obeng Junior described the defeat, which ended Heart of Lions’ unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League, as a harrowing one.

“It’s very painful because you can see it’s not easy. We have played away three times, and this was the third time. We have been unbeaten, and today we break the unbeaten record. So it’s very painful. From now going, we are going to work very hard,” Obeng Junior said.

The defeat to Gold Stars on Monday has seen Heart of Lions drop to fourth in the Ghana Premier League standings.

Up next for Heart of Lions, the team will take on Basake Holy Stars at Kpando Sports Stadium on Friday, October 24.
