Andre Ayew in no rush at NAC Breda as Ghana captain eyes full fitness and Eredivisie impact

Andre Ayew has acknowledged that he is still some distance away from peak condition following his recent move to NAC Breda, but the experienced forward remains confident and measured as he works towards full match fitness.

The Ghana captain made his debut for the Dutch side last weekend and admits that, while he maintained his conditioning during his time without a club, nothing can truly replicate the demands of competitive football.

Ayew, however, is approaching the process with patience and professionalism, trusting that consistent game time will soon bring him back to his best.

“I know I’m not 100 percent fit, but we’re getting there,” Ayew said. “We’re working hard with the physical team. I stayed in shape, but nothing can replace matches and official games. You just have to climb the steps, and very soon I’ll be at my top level.”

Ayew’s focus is firmly on contributing as quickly and effectively as possible, both on and off the pitch, as NAC Breda battle to secure their place in the Eredivisie. His leadership and experience are expected to be crucial in the second half of the season, particularly with the club currently sitting 16th on the table with 14 points from 18 matches.

With a home clash against NEC Nijmegen next on the calendar, Ayew will be hoping to build on his debut appearance and continue his steady return to full sharpness, as he looks to make a meaningful impact in familiar Ghanaian company at NAC Breda.
