Sudan captain Mohamed Abdelrahman has stated that they are approaching the Africa Cup of Nations with calm and caution

The Falcons of Jediane have reached the round of 16 after finishing among the best third placed teams, a welcome moment for a nation that has endured difficult times away from football. The achievement has lifted spirits back home and given supporters something to celebrate again.

Abdelrahman has stressed that pride, responsibility and unity are driving the squad forward. He believes the team’s strength lies not only in talent, but in the shared desire to represent Sudan with honour and commitment.

It is Sudan’s first appearance in the knockout stage since 2012, a milestone built on collective effort and trust within the group. Players and staff have leaned on each other throughout the campaign, determined to make every performance count.

The captain also praised the fans in Morocco and those watching from home for their constant encouragement.

"We are dealing with this tournament step by step. Our current objective is to reach the next round despite the fierce competition expected against Senegal. We will seek to prove our worth, as we have pledged to give everything, with success coming from God," he told CAFonline.com

Sudan now prepare to face former champions Senegal in what promises to be a demanding test.
