Ghana coach Otto Addo expresses deep concern after Francis Abu’s serious injury

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed deep concern following the serious injury sustained by midfielder Francis Abu during Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup on Friday.

Abu suffered a broken leg midway through the match and was stretchered off, leaving teammates visibly distressed. The incident overshadowed the remainder of the game and has raised fears of a lengthy absence for the Toulouse midfielder.

Speaking after the match, Otto Addo admitted the injury left him shaken. "First of all, I’m a bit worried because we had a very serious injury. I know this can happen in football, but it was really, really serious, and I just pray for him that it’s not that serious. Our prayers are with Francis, and hope that he will get well soon," he said.

The Black Stars are awaiting further medical updates from Toulouse, with the full extent of Abu’s recovery timeline yet to be confirmed.
