Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe reveals Augustine Boakye’s drive in FC Metz switch
· GhanaSoccernetGhanaian international defender Terry Yegbe says he was inspired by his compatriot Augustine Boakye to join French Ligue 1 outfit, FC Metz.
Yegbe’s outstanding display in Sweden earned him a significant move to FC Metz during the summer window. He signed a four-year deal that will keep him at the club until summer 2029.
The 24-year-old centre-back has since become a mainstay at FC Metz, making eight appearances in the French Ligue 1 this season.
Speaking to Flashscore, the former Black Meteors centre-back confirmed contact with the Ghanaian midfielder before switching to FC Metz.
“I had just come back from training when my agent called and said Metz really want you. I spoke to Augustine and he told me it’s a good team, good city, and they develop players. So I said, ‘why not?’ Within three or four days, everything was done.”
The Ghanaian international’s early impressions of life in France have been positive, insisting it the best place to be.
“It’s incredible, especially playing at home,” he smiles. “The atmosphere, the fans. It’s a good place to be.”
Having established himself as a key cog at the club, the rock-solid defender will be hoping to maintain his form throughout the campaign.
