· GhanaSoccernet

In-form Basake Holy Stars continued their recent fine run in the league with a comfortable 2-0 victory over FC Samartex on Sunday.

First half goals from Sylvester Simba and Benjamin Tweneboah was enough for Holy Stars to secure their fourth win in the last six matches.

The hosts were off to a blistering start after Simba opened the scoring just five minutes into the match with a sumptuous strike.

Buoyed by the early goal, Holy Stars seized control of the early exchanges, dominating the match while creating chances.

Just before half-time, Basake Holy Stars doubled their advantage through leading marksman Tweneboah.

After the break, Samartex were forced into making changes with Awuah Dramani and Emmanuel Mamah making way for Clinton Kumi and Ebenezer Acquah.

Despite the attacking substitutions, the visitors could not find a way past the resolute defence of Holy Stars.

The victory sees Holy Stars climb to 13th on the table and are now two points away from the drop zone.
