Hubert Gyau still adapting to Asante Kotoko’s style of play – Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito says midfielder Hubert Gyau is still adapting to the team’s tactical system despite his fine recent form.

Gyau, who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Berekum Chelsea during the offseason, has been one of Kotoko’s standout performers, particularly in the last few matches.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored a stunning brace in Kotoko’s 4-2 victory over Karela United, a display that drew widespread praise ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Zito, however, believes Gyau is still in the process of fully integrating into Kotoko’s style of play, though he remains pleased with his progress.

“He is improving, gradually improving. He has his way of playing [but] you can’t use your own way in a team…so I told him to play with the team and then I told him where to go individually,” Zito said.

The Kotoko coach also lauded Gyau’s spectacular goals against Karela United, describing his second strike as “fantastic.”

Kotoko go into the match against Hearts unbeaten after five games, with three wins and two draws, while their archrivals have also avoided defeat in their opening eight fixtures.

Both teams will be eager to preserve their unbeaten records when they clash at 16:00 GMT on Sunday.
