Hearts of Oak legend Charles Taylor has criticised the club’s current squad following their surprise elimination from the MTN FA Cup on Wednesday.

The Phobians were beaten 1-0 by Division Two side True Life FC in the Round of 64 at the Kpobiman Training Centre, a defeat that intensified concerns among fans.

Taylor said the performance lacked the urgency and commitment previously associated with the club.

Speaking on Angel FM, he urged the players to adopt higher standards as they confront growing pressure from supporters.

He argued that the team must show greater desire and discipline if they hope to restore the club’s competitive edge.

Taylor used his own experiences to highlight the gap between past squads and the present group.

“We were very serious during our time,” he said. He recalled fierce competition even during training.

“Even at training, my own teammate threatened to foul me badly if I didn’t stop dribbling him.”

“These current Hearts players should be placed on a match-before-salary basis,” he said, stressing the need for accountability and stronger performances.

Hearts of Oak must now regroup as attention shifts to the Ghana Premier League.

They travel to the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday for a Matchday 13 meeting with Karela United.
