Advanced team to leave Ghana on Friday ahead of Japan and South Korea friendlies - Asante Twum
· GhanaSoccernetAn advanced team will depart Accra on Friday for Japan ahead of the Black Stars’ upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has said.
He told Joy Sports that preparations are in progress as Otto Addo and his technical staff finalise plans for the Asia tour, part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“The advanced team will leave Accra on Friday for Japan, followed by the rest of the technical staff,” Asante Twum said.
“I don’t know yet if there will be local players. Depending on their number, they will hopefully travel on Sunday to Japan. We will then receive the players after their respective matches on Tuesday,” he noted.
The Black Stars will face Japan on November 14 before meeting South Korea four days later.
The matches are expected to serve as key tests for Otto Addo’s side ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Addo is expected to retain his core squad while assessing new options for Ghana’s fifth World Cup campaign.
The group-stage draw for the tournament will be held on December 5 in Washington.
