Maputo to host Africa’s rising stars at CAF Schools Championship finals

Maputo will become the centre of African youth football when the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals take place from April 2 to April 10, 2026, bringing together some of the continent’s most promising young players.

The tournament, one of the Confederation of African Football’s flagship development programmes, has quickly established itself as a vital pathway for nurturing grassroots talent and offering young footballers a platform to compete on a continental stage.

Mozambique’s capital is set to host school teams from across Africa, each aiming to leave its mark in a competition that blends education, sport and development. The championship is not only about crowning winners but also about creating opportunities for discovery, growth and exposure for the next generation of players.

Following the success of the previous edition hosted in Ghana, expectations are high for another memorable event as CAF continues to expand its investment in youth structures across the continent.
