"Ghana is truly on my heart"- Como forward Jayden Addai on choosing between Black Stars and Dutch national team

Como winger Jayden Addai has disclosed that he faces a dilemma choosing between the Netherlands and Ghana for his international career. 

The Dutch-born Ghanaian is enjoying a bright start to his career in Italy following his summer move from AZ Alkmaar, and has already caught the attention of the two federations.

Although he has played for Holland at the youth level, he remains eligible to play for Ghana's senior national team.

With the World Cup a few months ahead, Addai is hoping to settle on one of his option and make the team to the tournament in North America.

"I'm proud and happy to be here," Addai told VI PRO after receiving an invite to the Dutch U21 team. "Also because I didn't play many international matches in the youth team, due to my passport. I only had a Ghanaian passport, but for a few years now I've had both a Ghanaian and a Dutch passport, so I can play for both countries."

"Certainly, Ghana is truly in my heart. Both my parents are Ghanaian. I grew up Ghanaian, in the Netherlands. So that makes it difficult."

Addai is in the Dutch U21 team for the matches against Bosnia Herzegovina and Lithuania.

Meanwhile, Holland U21 manager, John Reiziger believes the path to the national team for Addai is a long short despite discussing him with head coach Ronald Koeman.

"Good wingers are interesting for us, but perhaps also for the Dutch national team in the long run," Reiziger said. "Of course I discuss that with Ronald: young players who might have a future with the Dutch national team. There are several of them."
