Black Queens assistant captain Jennifer Cudjoe is optimistic that Ghana will deliver an improved performance in their second Group C match at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) against Mali.

After suffering a 2-0 defeat to defending champions South Africa in their opener, the Black Queens face a must-win clash against Mali on Friday, July 11 at 16:00 GMT to keep their hopes of progressing alive.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference alongside head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, Cudjoe expressed confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back strongly.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, but I feel like with what we have, what we’ve prepared for, and the way we play and progress game after game, we are going to come out and play better than we did in the first game,” she stated.

Cudjoe also shared her excitement at representing Ghana on the continental stage, emphasizing the squad’s determination to respond positively after the opening loss.

Ghana will need all three points against a Mali side that secured victory in their opening match against Tanzania.
