Ghana international Antoine Semenyo and his Manchester City teammates are hoping for a magical night at Etihad on Tuesday night when they host Real Madrid in the reverse fixture of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Semenyo debuted in the competition last week when the Citizens travelled to Spain for the first leg of the tie.

In that game played at Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid ran riot over Manchester City, beating the English Premier League club 3-0 at the end of the contest.

Ahead of the second leg, Manchester City have a mountain to climb if they want to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition and Semenyo and his teammates certainly think they have what it takes to get the job done.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Monday, team captain Bernard Silva said the players believe everything is possible.

“The opponent is a good one, the result was not good, but at home a lot of things can happen, especially here at the Etihad. We’re going to try to create that.

“We know what this team is capable of, but this season we lack consistency. We know we can reach that level, but we weren’t able to maintain the level for the right amount of games. If we’re on it tomorrow, we know that it’s possible,” Silva said as quoted on the Manchester City website.

Manager Pep Guardiola is behind his players. Speaking in his pre-match interview, the manager admitted there is some inexperience in his squad but backed them to show up and give their all.

“It’s a football game, and many things can happen. This sport has taught us that a lot of things can happen in a football game. We have to focus and try to firstly win the game and then after see what happens.

“Most of them are new in this experience, and we are not the same group that many years. But at the same time, it’s an incredible experience and opportunity to try,” Guardiola said.

Tuesday’s crucial UEFA Champions League game between Manchester City and Real Madrid is scheduled to kick off at 20:00GMT.
