Poor league start motivated Nations FC's FA Cup success - Emmanuel Annor
· GhanaSoccernetNations FC forward Emmanuel Annor has revealed that the club’s difficult start to the Ghana Premier League season served as the primary catalyst for their historic charge to the MTN FA Cup final.
Speaking to Joy Sports after scoring the decisive goal in a 1–0 semi-final victory over Aduana FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday, Annor explained that the squad made a conscious decision to shift their focus toward cup glory to salvage their campaign.
The early stages of the league season saw the Abrankese-based side struggle for consistency, resulting in coaching change.
"It’s really important for us because we all know we didn’t start the league very well," Annor said.
"So, we channeled everything into this FA Cup. Throughout the week, we’ve been having a lot of discussions amongst ourselves, and glory be to God, it happened today."
Annor’s match-winning strike came in the 8th minute, providing an early cushion that the team defended with discipline.
Under the guidance of coach Frimpong Manso, Nations FC displayed remarkable resilience to hold off a late onslaught from the Ogya boys.
The victory marks the first time the club has reached the final of Ghana’s oldest knockout competition.
Having overcome their early-season jitters, the team now sits on the verge of securing its first major trophy and a potential spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
