Ghana FA Director of Competitions Julius Ben Emunah resigns

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Director of Competitions, Julius Ben Emunah, has resigned from his position, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

GHANAsoccernet.com can report that Ben Emunah stepped down from his role to pursue other opportunities, bringing to an end his latest chapter with the country’s football governing body.

A seasoned football administrator, Ben Emunah has served the GFA in various capacities over the years, playing key roles in administration, safety, licensing, and competitions management.

He was Regional Administrative Manager for the Western Region Football Association between 2016 and 2020, a period during which he was instrumental in strengthening administrative structures and competitions within the region.

He later moved to the national level, where he served as National Safety and Security Officer and Club Licensing Manager from 2020 to 2024.

In that role, Ben Emunah was deeply involved in matchday safety coordination, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of CAF and FIFA club licensing requirements.

In January 2023, he was appointed Head of Competitions, a position he held in an acting capacity between 2023 and 2024 before continuing in the role until his resignation.

As Head of Competitions, he oversaw the organisation and management of domestic competitions, including the Ghana Premier League and other GFA-sanctioned tournaments.

Academically, Ben Emunah boasts a strong background that complements his administrative experience.

He holds a Global Master’s degree in Sports Management and Law from ISDE in Barcelona, Spain, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

His departure marks another change within the GFA’s administrative setup, with the Association expected to announce arrangements regarding the Competitions Department in due course.
