Samson Baidoo ready for new challenge as RC Lens close deal

Samson Baidoo is about to start a fresh chapter in his young career with a move to French side RC Lens.

The 21-year-old Austrian-Ghanaian defender has reportedly completed his medical after arriving in Artois and is excited about the new adventure.

Baidoo is switching from Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg, where he built a solid reputation as a tough, athletic centre-back. Lens and Salzburg have agreed on an â‚¬8 million fee, including bonuses. Though top clubs like Juventus and RB Leipzig had their eyes on him, it was Lens who moved quickly and sealed the deal.

Before finalising the transfer, Baidoo spoke with Austrian teammate Kevin Danso to get a feel for life in Ligue 1 and the atmosphere at Lens. Convinced the club suits his development, he is set to bring energy, strength, and leadership to the French side’s back line.
