'No serious offer was made' – Pitso Mosimane reveals earlier talks over Black Stars job

South African tactician Pitso Mosimane has played down reports linking him with the vacant Black Stars head coaching position, insisting that no concrete offer was ever made by Ghanaian football authorities.

Speaking on Radio 947, the former Al-Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach acknowledged that there was some background chatter but nothing official. "I guess there was a little bit a talk."

When I asked the office, it said there is a talk. Concrete (talk) is when the letter came to say… can we have a conversation over this?" Mosimane said. He added, "A call from a Ghana official for me is not really serious talk."

The South African had been mentioned as one of the top candidates to replace Otto Addo after the German-Ghanaian coach was dismissed. However, the Ghana Football Association ultimately appointed former Real Madrid and Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz, who was unveiled on April 23 on a four-month contract.

Queiroz will now lead the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. For Mosimane, the speculation is now firmly behind him.
