Schindler’s Buriram United booked their place in the showpiece event after a dramatic semi-final second leg against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) on Wednesday night.
Leading 3-1 from the first leg, Buriram suffered a 2-1 defeat on the night after goals from JDT's Bérgson da Silva and Marcos Guilherme leveled the aggregate score at 3-3.
In the 98th minute of extra time, Schindler fired home a powerful, decisive strike to seal a 4-3 aggregate victory, safely guiding the Thai champions through despite late red cards to teammates Guilherme Bissoli and Goran Čaušić.
Their final opponents, Selangor FC, eased into the championship match on the same evening by defeating Vietnamese outfit Nam Äịnh 2-0.
The Malaysian side comfortably advanced with a dominant 4-1 aggregate triumph, setting the stage for a spectacular regional title clash against Schindler and his resilient Buriram squad.
