Union Berlin defender Derrick Köhn has issued a bold challenge to Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, vowing to make himself an indispensable part of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Speaking to Sporty FM following his inclusion in the 26-man roster for this month's high-profile friendlies, the 27-year-old left-back expressed a fierce determination to cement his starting role.

Ghana is set to face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before traveling to Stuttgart to take on Germany on March 30. For Köhn, these fixtures represent more than mere preparation; they are a final audition for the global showpiece.

“Personally, I want to play well in the Austria and Germany games so that Otto Addo would have no chance to keep me out of the squad for the World Cup,” Köhn declared.

The former Hannover 96 man, who debuted for Ghana in late 2025, faces stiff internal competition from a regular like Gideon Mensah.

However, his current form in the Bundesliga has bolstered his confidence. Köhn views the upcoming European tour as the perfect stage to showcase his defensive solidity and attacking flair.
