Former Ghana international Michael Essien has heaped praise on Kamaldeen Sulemana, describing the Atalanta winger as a player blessed with immense natural ability.

Speaking to FIFA ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Essien highlighted Sulemana's pace, dribbling, and strength as key attributes that could make him a difference-maker for the Black Stars in North America.

"Sulemana is a great talent. I managed to see him here, and he's got a lot of qualities in him. He's a good dribbler, he's very fast, and he's quite strong," Essien said.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder urged the 25-year-old to trust his instincts and play with freedom on the pitch.

"Hopefully, he can bring that on board. He has to feel free and be himself when he's on the pitch, then the rest will come."

Sulemana has struggled for consistent game time at Atalanta this season, but he remains a key figure for Ghana. With the World Cup fast approaching, Essien's endorsement serves as both encouragement and a reminder of the talent the winger possesses.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
