We won't get swollen-headed because of Holy Stars' win – Eleven Wonders coach
· GhanaSoccernetCoach Emmanuel Aidoo has issued a clear warning against complacency after his Techiman Eleven Wonders side secured a crucial 2–0 victory over Basake Holy Stars.
The win, which marks only their second triumph of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, offers a vital lifeline in their battle against relegation as the second round of the campaign begins.
Aidoo admitted the result provides a significant morale boost but was quick to emphasise that the hard work is far from over. "It feels great, but we still need to work more," the coach stated in his post-match address. "We are not going to get swollen-headed because of this win. There are more hurdles to clear. Of course, we are excited, but the work continues."
The coach broke down the match, crediting his team's resilience after a challenging first half. "The first half was for them, and they couldn't make use of their chances," Aidoo explained. "In the second half, we also took over. In football, you need to take your chances – that's all."
Despite the three points lifting them to nine, Eleven Wonders remain rooted to the bottom of the 18-team league table. Aidoo left no doubt about the team's singular, overriding objective for the remainder of the season. "We are on a rescue mission," he declared. "The slogan is oppression – we need to rescue. Everybody is aware of it. The mission is to escape relegation."
With the first round having concluded with Medeama SC leading the table, Eleven Wonders now hope this hard-earned victory can ignite a sustained fightback as they embark on their critical rescue operation in the second half of the season.
