2025/26 Ghana Premier League: Week 21 Match Report - Hearts of Oak 0-0 Bechem United

Hearts of Oak remained fourth on the Ghana Premier League table after playing out a goalless draw with Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Sunday afternoon.
The Phobians went into the match hoping to capitalise on dropped points by sides above them, but a well-organised and determined Bechem United performance ensured they left Accra with a deserved point. Hearts started brightly and nearly took an early lead in the fifth minute when Raphael Amponsah’s corner found Abdul Aziz Afranie, whose powerful header struck the post with the goalkeeper beaten.
Hearts continued to apply pressure, with Mawuli Wayo, Baba Adamu, and Henry Boateng pushing the team forward, while captain Oppong Afrane led confidently at the back. Bechem United offered occasional threats on the counter, but goalkeeper Ali Agbasi remained composed and dealt calmly with the danger.
After the break, Hearts maintained their attacking intent. Adamu’s deliveries caused problems, including a spectacular overhead kick attempt from Boateng that drifted wide. Substitutions injected fresh energy, with Collinson, Karikari, and later Asmah introduced in search of a breakthrough.
Hearts of Oak piled on the pressure until the final moments, but a late save denied Asmah and ensured the match ended goalless. The result takes the Phobians to 36 points, level with Bibiani Gold Stars and Aduana FC, and sees them move above Asante Kotoko ahead of the Super Clash. Bechem United remain 12th on the table with 26 points, three clear of the relegation zone.
