The head coach of Ghana’s Black Galaxies, Kassim Mingle Ocansey, has described the friendly match against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana as an eye-opener.

The Ghanaian tactician and his team engaged South Africa on Tuesday afternoon in a friendly match played at Dobsonville Stadium.

In a close contest that ensued between the two national teams, a solitary strike from Sipho Mbule handed the Bafana Bafana a narrow 1-0 victory over Ghana’s CHAN team.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Kassim Mingle Ocansey praised the performance of his players, insisting that the friendly was an eye-opener for his side.

"Because the league is ongoing, we didn’t have much time to prepare, but the work was intensive. This game was an eye-opener, and I believe we are building a strong CHAN team. The players performed very well against a tough opponent, and we have a bright future ahead," Ocansey said as quoted by ghanafa.org.

After the high-profile friendly against the Bafana Bafana, the Black Galaxies will now shift their focus to the 2026 CHAN qualifiers.

For South Africa, they will continue with preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to kick off in Morocco on December 21.
