GPL: Hohoe United coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru disappointed with draw against Heart of Lions
· GhanaSoccernetHohoe United head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru expressed his disappointment on Friday after the team’s goalless stalemate in their Ghana Premier League fixture against Heart of Lions.
In the Week 17 encounter played at Hohoe Sports Stadium, the hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock after the interval when they were awarded a penalty.
However, captain Safianu Usman failed to capitalise, skying his effort and allowing Heart of Lions to escape punishment.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Abdul Rahim Bashiru admitted the game was tough but rued missing the penalty that denied Hohoe United all three points.
“It was a very difficult game. Lions gave us a lot of tough times, but I think in the later part we came in and even had a penalty, and that’s the problem that we are facing. We will continue working hard,” the coach said.
Abdul Rahim Bashiru added, “This is not what we wanted. We wanted all three points, and moreover, we had a penalty that we could have secured all three points. We were unlucky, so we have to go back and work harder.”
After the draw against Heart of Lions, Hohoe United have dropped to 15th in the Ghana Premier League standings with 18 points.
Dropping more points in the next match against Hearts of Oak could drag the team into the relegation zone.
