Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has embarked on a scouting mission in Malta as part of preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

The visit forms part of the technical team’s broader strategy to identify and assess eligible Ghanaian players based abroad who could strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

During the trip, Bjorkegren met and assessed four players: Kassim Mariama and Naila Adoma Addo, both formerly of Fosu Royal Ladies; former Black Princesses striker Salamatu Nte Abdulai; and Selina Animah, who previously featured for Berry Ladies.

The Black Queens coach is also expected to observe Salamatu Nte Abdulai in competitive action for Swieqi United, as well as Selina Animah, who plays for Birkirkara Women. The live match assessments will provide an opportunity to evaluate the players’ match fitness, tactical understanding, and suitability for the national team’s style of play.

The Malta visit reflects the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to widening the talent pool for the Black Queens, with particular focus on Ghanaian players competing in European leagues.

With WAFCON approaching, the technical team is keen to assemble a balanced squad that combines domestic experience with international exposure. The GFA is expected to outline further plans for the Black Queens in the coming days as preparations intensify.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D of the tournament, where they will face Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde, with the competition set to be staged in Morocco.
