Ghana's Antoine Semenyo draws 'active' Manchester United interest as £65m January move looms
· GhanaSoccernetManchester United have stepped up plans to sign Antoine Semenyo, with the club holding an active interest ahead of a possible £65 million move in January.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian continues to attract attention after another standout display against United in Monday’s 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.
Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s most consistent performers this season, delivering seven goals and three assists across 15 Premier League appearances.
United sources indicate the club is assessing attacking reinforcements as part of a wider squad reshuffle expected during the winter window. The forward’s profile fits United’s recruitment priorities, with pace, physical presence and versatility across the frontline viewed as key attributes.
Interest in Semenyo is not limited to Old Trafford, with several Premier League rivals monitoring his situation closely.
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs reported that United’s pursuit remains live, but competition could intensify as January approaches.
“Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Semenyo is active, as revealed last month,” Jacobs said. “But other clubs are also in the mix, including #MCFC, #LFC and Spurs.
“Semenyo calm about his future and waiting to see which clubs commit to triggering or matching his clause.”
The £65 million clause, embedded in Semenyo’s Bournemouth contract, is active in January before dropping by around £5 million in the summer.
According to the leading online betting sites, Man Utd have a 20% chance (odds of 5.0) of signing Semenyo in the January transfer window.
United’s admiration is reinforced by Semenyo’s recent record against them, having scored in all three meetings since Ruben Amorim took charge. The Portuguese coach is understood to value players capable of executing direct transitions and pressing aggressively from advanced areas.
Semenyo’s impact has been central to Bournemouth’s attacking structure, making him difficult to replace mid-season. Despite that, Bournemouth are aware of the clause and have long planned for eventual interest in their leading assets.
