Karim Zito opens up on Kotoko struggles after departure

· GhanaSoccernet

Former Kotoko coach Karim Zito has broken his silence on the club's recent struggles, speaking candidly about his enduring connection to the Porcupine Warriors.

In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Zito did not hide his frustration as he watched his former side from afar.

Kotoko have managed just one win in their last four matches, sitting fifth on the league table with 39 points after 25 games—a return that falls well short of what the club's passionate fanbase demands.

"I even spoke to them today, and I was furious," Zito revealed. "I asked, 'Why are you doing this?' What is going on? Please push on. Don't give up. I swear.'"

The veteran coach, who now takes charge of FC AshGold 04, made it clear that his departure does not mean his investment in Kotoko's fortunes has ended.

"At the end of the day, I'm a legend. I played for this club for over 10 years and won a lot with them. Why should I hate it?" he asked.

Zito offered perspective on the transient nature of coaching, reminding that his exit is part of a larger cycle.

"This is not my first time coming to Kotoko and leaving, and I won't be the last coach. The club has a legacy, and it must be respected."

His words serve as both a rallying cry to the current squad and a reminder of the weight that comes with representing one of Ghana's most storied institutions.
