We have to support them – Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu calls for unity behind Black Stars technical team

Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has appealed to Ghanaians to throw their weight behind the Black Stars technical team, insisting that unity and support are essential as the nation prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking after the Ghana Football Association bolstered the backroom staff with five experienced professionals, Agyemang-Badu urged the public to trust the FA's judgement and avoid criticism during this critical preparation period.

"The Ghana FA knows the nature of the meetings they held with the coaches and management, as well as the kind of reinforcement needed in the technical team. If they have decided to strengthen the technical team, we have to support them," he said.

The former midfielder stressed that with just months remaining before the tournament, negativity will only hinder progress.

"With a few months left to the World Cup, this is not the time to criticise the expansion. As Ghanaians, we need to be patient and back the team."

Ghana secured qualification for their fifth World Cup appearance after earning one of Africa's nine automatic slots for the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, setting up a challenging but exciting campaign. They will open their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

For Agyemang-Badu, the message is simple: the time for division is over. Now is the time to come together.
