'We are woeful in front of goal' - Hearts of Oak boss Didi Dramani after Berekum Chelsea draw

Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani has delivered a blunt assessment of his side’s attacking struggles, admitting they are “very woeful” in converting chances after another frustrating stalemate dented their title ambitions.

The Phobians’ profligacy was once again laid bare as they were held at home, a result that leaves them third on 40 points, five behind leaders Medeama S.C.

Hearts have managed only 16 goals in 23 league matches this season, a return better than bottom-placed Eleven Wonders alone, underlining the scale of the problem.

“We need to do that (consistency), we have the capacity to do that, because we create chances and once you create the chances, we need to have the tendencies to convert, but I think that sometimes we are very woeful in terms of our conversion,” Dramani said.

Hearts went into the fixture knowing victory would have cut the gap at the top to just two points, but familiar shortcomings in front of goal resurfaced.

They began brightly, with Martin Karikari testing Eric Ofori-Antwi inside four minutes. Mawuli Wayo and Baba Adamu also threatened before the break, including a goal-bound effort cleared off the line by Seidu Mohammed.

Wayo later missed an open goal, and appeals for a penalty were waved away by referee Jacob Aduntera. Despite sustained pressure, Hearts failed to find the breakthrough, allowing their opponents to escape with a hard-earned point.
