‘I will die at the back’ - Simpson reveals pact behind Nations FC’s win over Aduana
· GhanaSoccernetNations FC captain Razak Simpson hailed a divine intervention and a solemn defensive pact after leading the Abrankese-based side to their first-ever MTN FA Cup final on Friday.
The Abrankese-based side secured a historic 1–0 victory over heavyweights Aduana FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium, marking a monumental milestone for the club.
Reflecting on the hard-fought semi-final, Simpson revealed a pre-match agreement with forward Emmanuel Annor that ultimately defined the contest.
"Like he [Annor] said, God first; without Him, we cannot win this game," Simpson remarked during his post-match interview.
The captain, who was later named Man of the Match for his commanding performance, disclosed that he had challenged Annor to find the back of the net early, promising in return to anchor a relentless defensive effort.
"Going to this game, we really sat down and I told him he should score one goal for me and I will die at the back for the team," he added.
That promise was tested as early as the 8th minute when Annor delivered the decisive strike.
Following the goal, Simpson and his backline weathered intense pressure from the Ogya boys to preserve the slim lead until the final whistle.
The victory propels Nations FC into the grand finale, scheduled for late May, where they will face either Dreams FC or Medeama SC.
