GPL: Johnson Smith fumes over Holy Stars’ performance in defeat to Eleven Wonders
· GhanaSoccernetBasake Holy Stars head coach Johnson Smith has shared his disappointment with the performance of his players after their defeat to Eleven Wonders in the Ghana Premier League.
In a Week 18 fixture played at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday, a brace from Rauf Munah secured all three points for Eleven Wonders, leaving Holy Stars to return home empty-handed.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Johnson Smith did not only rue missed chances but criticised the overall performance of his players, insisting that they failed to execute their game plan.
“It’s football. We had the chances of scoring, but we misused it. What I thought them is not what they were doing,” Johnson Smith said.
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, the experienced tactician is hoping Holy Stars can recruit a few players in the next few weeks to strengthen the team.
“I think our defenders are tired because they have played all the matches since I came. But that’s the only players we have. In the striking department,t we need to bring in some players,” he said.
The defeat to Eleven Wonders leaves Holy Stars in the 14th position in the Ghana Premier League standings.
With 18 points, the team could be dragged into the relegation zone at the end of the matchday.
