Ghana star Antoine Semenyo confident Man City can overturn Real Madrid deficit
· GhanaSoccernetAntoine Semenyo says Manchester City still believe they can overturn their deficit against Real Madrid despite losing the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
The Ghana forward made his Champions League debut in City’s 3-0 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Wednesday night, playing 70 minutes in the encounter.
Speaking after the match, Semenyo expressed confidence that the Premier League champions can still recover in the return leg.
“100% I feel like we can turn the deficit around. We’ve got a lot of experienced lads who know what it feels like being 3-0 down or losing in the first leg. We just need to reset and make sure we play well,” he said in an interview with Hayters TV.
Despite the defeat, the Black Stars attacker described his Champions League debut as a special moment in his career.
“It’s surreal making my Champions League debut, but you also have to stay sharp as a player. I’m learning on the go, and I have to keep on my toes no matter what. It’s great being around world-class players, and it’s only making me better,” he added.
Semenyo’s appearance marked another step in his rapid rise in European football following his move from AFC Bournemouth earlier this year.
The 26-year-old has been in strong form this season, recording 15 goals and four assists in 28 Premier League matches.
