Asante Kotoko supporter succumbs to injuries after stabbing incident, club confirms

Asante Kotoko has confirmed the tragic passing of a club supporter, identified as Polley, who was stabbed multiple times following the team’s Ghana Premier League clash against Nsoatreman FC on Sunday.

In an official statement, the club revealed that members of the media and supporters who travelled from Kumasi to support the team were attacked after the match at Nana Konamansah Park.

Unfortunately, Polley, who sustained severe stab wounds during the chaos, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The incident occurred after Nsoatreman FC secured a 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko in the Week 19 fixture of the Ghanaian top-flight league.

Tensions flared as some players exchanged blows after the final whistle, further escalating when spectators, alleged to be Nsoatreman FC supporters, threw objects at the Kotoko bench.

The violent scenes have sparked widespread condemnation, with calls for authorities to take swift action against those responsible. Asante Kotoko has urged the Ghana Football Association and law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and ensure justice is served.
