Quitting Eleven Wonders won't affect my reputation in any way - Odartey Lamptey
· GhanaSoccernetCoach Nii Odartey Lamptey says his departure from Eleven Wonders will not change the reputation he has already built in football.
The former Ghana international resigned after the club’s 3-2 loss to Nations FC, which left them 17th in the Ghana Premier League with only two points.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Lamptey explained that his decision to step down was personal and not influenced by club officials.
“A lot of people called me from Kumasi saying I’d been sacked. I wasn’t sacked. I submitted my resignation letter to the club’s leadership,” he said.
Lamptey, who previously starred for Anderlecht and Aston Villa, insisted that his legacy in football stands on its own.
“I’ve already made my name. This job can’t add to or take anything away from the name I’ve made. I’m just helping them out,” he noted.
He added that his motivation at Eleven Wonders was to contribute his experience to the team’s growth rather than to seek personal validation.
Eleven Wonders are expected to appoint a new head coach soon as they prepare to face Aduana FC at the Swedru Stadium on Monday.
