Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo will make his debut for Ghana after being named in the starting line-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday night.

Sibo, who earned a late call-up to the Black Stars squad, has walked straight into the XI, taking the place of Abdul Salis Samed, who featured in the 1-1 draw with Chad last Thursday.

The 27-year-old’s inclusion is seen as a reward for his impressive consistency at club level, having played a key role in Real Oviedo’s promotion to La Liga last season and starting the current campaign strongly. His selection marks a major milestone as he makes his first competitive appearance for the national team.

In midfield, Ghana are further strengthened by the return of Thomas Partey, who missed the Chad encounter due to illness. Now with Villarreal, Partey replaces the suspended Elisha Owusu. The Black Stars also welcome back Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu, both of whom add stability and experience to the backline.

Currently leading Group I with 16 points, Ghana will be looking to secure a vital win over Mali to tighten their grip on top spot and move closer to qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
