Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has expressed optimism about Ghana's chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting that the Black Stars possess the quality to make a deep run despite the ongoing search for a new head coach.

Speaking in an upcoming interview on Channel One TV's Upside Down show, Adams acknowledged that the team is not yet fully prepared—largely due to the absence of a head coach—but remained confident in the squad's potential.

"We may not have the best of players as we had maybe in some time past… but we still have what it takes for us to go very, very far," he said.

The minister confirmed that a new coach will be appointed by Friday or Monday at the latest, with discussions in their final stages. Several high-profile names, including Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento, and Fernando Santos, remain linked to the role.

Adams admitted that Ghana are not yet ready for the World Cup, with less than 70 days until their opener against Panama.

"If I tell you that we are ready today, we don't even have a head coach. So it means that we are not fully ready yet. But I see us being ready by the time it's time for us to play our first game… we should still be hopeful."

Ghana will play friendlies against Mexico and Wales as part of their preparations. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama and will open their campaign on June 17 in Toronto. For Adams, the belief remains intact.
