Nobody forced a player on me during my time as Hearts of Oak head coach - Aboubakar Ouattara
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has stressed that nobody associated with the club forced any player on him during the period he was in charge of the team.
The Ivorian tactician took charge of the Phobians midway through the 2023/24 season and was relieved of his duties at the end of the 2024/25 football season when he was reassigned as a technical advisor to the board.
Addressing speculations that players were forced on him during his stint as the head coach, Ouattara, in an interview with Top Sports, has indicated that they are false.
Although he confirms that some recommendations were made, he insists that he always had control over the players the club recruited.
“Nobody forced a player on me during my time. There were recommendations, though,” Ouattara said.
Meanwhile, the former Hearts of Oak head coach has disclosed that he was disappointed when he lost the role, insisting that he had a clear plan for the team for the following season.
“I felt disappointed after I was informed to perform the role of the Technical Advisor because I had a template to put into reality as the head coach,” Aboubakar Ouattara said.
