Denmark vs Ukraine friendly abandoned after another terrifying Christian Eriksen collapse

Christian Eriksen caused major concern on Sunday after collapsing during a friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine.

The midfielder reportedly placed a hand on his chest before going down without contact, creating distressing scenes that immediately halted play and left players and spectators in shock.

The Danish Football Association confirmed that Eriksen was conscious and in stable condition following the incident, noting that he was “feeling well given the circumstances.”

The friendly match against Ukraine was officially abandoned as medical personnel rushed onto the pitch, and the player was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further examination.

Teammates quickly surrounded Eriksen on the pitch to shield him from cameras as emergency treatment was administered, while broadcast coverage cut away from the scene.

He was then carefully transported to the hospital for detailed checks, with both teams and officials agreeing that the match could not continue due to the emotional impact of the incident.

The incident inevitably revived memories of Eriksen’s collapse during Euro 2020 in 2021, when he suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s match against Finland.

On that occasion, he received emergency CPR on the pitch before being stabilised in the hospital.

Following that episode, Eriksen made a remarkable return to professional football after receiving an implantable cardiac device. He later resumed his career in the Premier League with Brentford and Manchester United and returned to the Danish national team setup.
